That Was Me

[G]Remember back a[C]bout five years a[G]go
[C]Drivin' down the highway
      [G] [G/f#] [Em]
Saw a kid there by the road
[C]Long blonde dirty [G]hair
His [C]thumb out in the [G]air
That was [D]me
That was [G]me

Remember the kid that walked into your store
The one you told you were sorry
You weren't hiring anymore
So he walked out your door
His head hung toward the floor
That was me
That was me

[D]Well I'm the face you[C]'ve seen a million [G]times
The [D]one who never [C]seems to fit [G]in between those [D]lines
I'm [C]every broken [D]dream
     [G] [G/f#] [Em]
This world has left behind
[C]I'm the face y[D]ou've seen a million [G]times

Remember the kid you saw that night downtown
Singing on the sidewalk
Guitar case on the ground
He looked down on his luck
So you threw him a buck
That was me
That was me

Remember back about five years ago
Drivin' down the highway
Saw a kid there by the road
Long blonde dirty hair
His thumb out in the air
That was me
That was me
That was me
