Lemon Drop

[G]My muffler's tied on with a guitar string
I owe [C]$7000 to a bank machine
[G]'Fore this car is ever really[D] mine

But [G]some fine day I'll drive her downtown
Ge[C]t a burger and fries and a royal crown
Thankin'[D] God that I'll never have[G] to pay another dime

My[C] life is like a lemon drop
[G]I'm suckin' on the bitter to get to the sweet part
[D]I know there are better days[G] ahead

[G]I got dirty shirts and worn out jeans
[C]I owe two dozen quarters to a washing machine
[G]'Fore these clothes'll ever reall[D]y shine
[G]But I got me a man who just don't care
[C]If his little darlin's got underwear
[G]I know someday I'm g[D]onna be his wife [G]

[D]I got thrift store curtains in the windows of my home
[G]I'm payin' for a house that the landlord owns
[D]Bought a TV on a credit card
[G]It'll take me ten years to pay it off
[C]But some fine day I'll be drinkin' a beer
[G]In a big backyard I own free and clear
[D]Oh I know there's better days ah[G]ead

[G]So I'll play my hopes and play my dreams
[C]Just like two coins in a slot machine
[G]Sayin' glory hallelujah[D] if everything works out fine[G]

[D]Lord I know there's better days ahea[G]d

Thank God
