Daedalus

{tuning: Standard (EADGBE)}
[Am]              [Dm]
[F]       [G]
[Am]              [Am]
[Dm]
[F]       [G]        [A]

I[Am] stand on the cliffs with my son next to me;
This [Dm]island our prison, our home.
And [Am]everyday we look out at the sea;
This [Dm]place is all he's ever known.

But [Am]I've got a plan and some wax and some string;
Some [Dm]feathers I stole from the birds.
And we [Am]leap from the cliff and we hear the wind sing a [Dm]song that's too perfect for words.

But [F]son, please [Am]keep a steady [C]wing;
You know [B]you're the only one that means anything to me.
Steer [F]clear of the sun, or [E7]you'll find yourself in the [Am]sea

[Am][Dm]
[F]             [G]

Now [Am]safely away, I let out a cry
That [Dm]we'll make the mainland by noon.
But [Am]Icarus climbs higher still in the sky;
[Dm]Maybe I've spoken too soon.

Oh [F]son, please [Am]keep a steady [C]wing
And know [B]you're the only one who means anything to me
Steer [F]clear of the sun, or [E7]you'll find yourself in the [F]sea

Won't you l[Am]ook at your [C]wings?
They're [B]coming undone; they're splitting at the seams.
Steer [F]clear of the sun; for [E7]once won't you listen to [Am]me?

[There's a little melodic riff here that repeats for a long time, but I don't do tabs
putting the notes would probably just confuse everyone, so moving along...]

Oh [F]gods, why is this [Dm]happening to me?
All I [Am]wanted was a new life, for my [C]son to grow up free.
And now you [F]took the only thing that meant [Dm]anything to me.
I will n[Am]ever fly again; I will [C]hang up my wings

[Repeat]

Oh [F]gods!   [Dm]

[Am]   [C]

[Repeat and fade out]

This is an incredible song, and probably my favorite on the entire Alchemy Index. If
figures out the B chord, send me an IM on AIM. I'm curious.
