My home town
She's big and she's brown
She reaches to the sky above
An every where you look she's all around you
My back yard
Is dirty and hard
It never seen a flower grown
Since I can testify its no garden
One of these days
I'm gona pack my bags and take a train to some big city
Where the lights are bright and
I now all the girls are pretty
My home folk
Were raised in the smoke
Of firy factory chimney stacks that gave you work
But in return they choked you,
choked youuuu
note : on break, Eadd11 chord may be replaced by Fm
Uh!
When a wakeup, i wake up in the morning
Work all the day till the sun goes down
Gota save up all the money i am earning
Gota have enough to kiss this town
note : on break, Eadd11 chord may be replaced by Fm
Uh!
Borrowing books from the public library
Teaching myself about the world outside
Pictures of sunny places in fife
Be goodbye town, goodbye,
taken a riii iiii iiii iiii iiiide
My mother started crying at the station
Asked me if i wouldn't change my mind
Afraid the city light were going blind me
The whistle blows and terminates my journey
Go reality is right on time
The factory gate closed once again behind meeeeee
One of theses days
I'm gona pack my bags and take a train to some big city
Where the lights are bright and
I now all the giiiiirls are pretty
One of these days
