Well,  my name is Mathias and I came  to say this:
I've  got a big bushy beard and kissable lips
And I carry  all my fat in my ass  and my hips
And the rest  of me is skinny  as a stick
In  the sixties, my mom was thin  and mini-skirted
She  was raised as a Catholic, but then  she converted
Because she loved  my dad's religion; she loved  him, too
And that's  how I was born  a Jew
They  lived and went to school in Buffalo
But  my dad decided that they  had to go
Because the Vietnam  War would not be good  for his health
And that's  how I was born  in the  Commonwealth
Where we're born  and when we die, we can't  control that
And life  in between is war  and combat
There are targets  you can shoot for, mines  to circumvent,
but, most  of life  is an  accident.
I've  spent time in Peterborough, and  in Winnipeg
And leaving is living: just  use your legs
'Cause everywhere  is nice if you drink  enough beer
So some  days I'm there,  and  some days I'm here.
And  it's not about sowing my wild oats  or whatever
I sowed  my oats when I was young and I  thought i was clever
And my oats  all rotted in the field  where they lay
And I'm oat-less  and unemployed  these days.
So  I have a ukulele, I have  a guitar
 But  I don't have a house or a kid  or a car
I'd like to keep  it that way as long  as I can
But you  know what they say  about the best  laid plans.
Where we're born  and when we die, we can't  control that
And life  in between is war  and combat
There are targets  you can shoot for, mines  to circumvent,
but, most  of life  is an  accident.
And  an accident is something that  you don't plan
Like  the Y chromozome between a woman  and a man
One day  I might get hit by a bus  or get cancer
   (or just stay on )
But right now all I am is a fabulous dancer
So  dance with me, baby! Put your hands  on my hips
 Kiss  my aforementioned kissable  lips
Wherever  we are, that's  where we're at
My name  is Mathias  and I came  to say that.

[Fm]Well, my name is Mathias and I [Bbm]came to say [Fm]this:
[Fm]I've got a big bushy beard and k[C]issable [C7]lips
And I [Fm]carry all my fat in my [Bbm]ass and my hips
And the [C]rest of me is [C7]skinny as a [Fm]stick

[Fm]In the sixties, my mom was thin[Bbm] and mini-skirt[Fm]ed
[Fm]She was raised as a Catholic, but [C]then she con[C7]verted
Because she [Fm]loved my dad's religion; she [Bbm]loved him, too
And [C]that's how I was [C7]born a [Fm]Jew

[Fm]They lived and went to school in [Bbm]Buffal[Fm]o
[Fm]But my dad decided that they[C] had to [C7]go
Because the [Fm]Vietnam War would not be [Bbm]good for his health
And [C]that's how I was [C7]born in the[Fm] Commonwealth

Where we're [Ab]born and when we die, we [Eb]can't control that
And [Fm]life in between is [C]war and com[C7]bat
There are [Bbm]targets you can shoot for, [Fm]mines to circumvent,
but, [C]most of lif[C7]e is an[Fm] accident.

[Fm]I've spent time in Peterborough, [Bbm]and in Winni[Fm]peg
And leaving is living: [C]just use your le[C7]gs
'Cause [Fm]everywhere is nice if you [Bbm]drink enough beer
So [C]some days I'm [C7]there, and[Fm] some days I'm here.

[Fm]And it's not about sowing my wild [Bbm]oats or what[Fm]ever
I [Fm]sowed my oats when I was young and [C]I thought i was [C7]clever
And my [Fm]oats all rotted in the [Bbm]field where they lay
And I'm [C]oat-less and [C7]unemployed these [Fm]days.

[Fm]So I have a ukulele, I [Bbm]have a gui[Fm]tar
Bu[Fm]t I don't have a house or a [C]kid or a [C7]car
I'd like to [Fm]keep it that way as [Bbm]long as I can
But [C]you know what they [C7]say about the [Fm]best laid plans.

[Fm]And an accident is something [Bbm]that you don't [Fm]plan
Li[Fm]ke the Y chromozome between a [C]woman and a [C7]man
One [Fm]day I might get hit by a [Bbm]bus or get cancer
[C] [C7] [Fm] (or just stay on [C7])
But right now all I am is a fabulous dancer

[Fm]So dance with me, baby! Put your [Bbm]hands on my [Fm]hips
Ki[Fm]ss my aforementioned [C]kissable l[C7]ips
Wher[Fm]ever we are, [Bbm]that's where we're at
My [C]name is Math[C7]ias and I [Fm]came to say that.
