Jesus is my friend.

[E] [D] [G] [B]

    [A] [E] [B] [E]
[A]He taught me how to liv[E]e my l[B]ife as it should b[E]e
He taught me how to turn my cheek when people laugh at me
I've had friends before, and I can tell you that
[F#]He's one that'll never leave you fl[B]at!

He t[A]au[E]ght [B]me[E] how to pray, and how to save my soul
He taught me how to praise my God and still play rock 'n' roll
The music may sound different, but the message is the same
[F#]It's just my instrumental "praise his n[B]ame"!

Jesu[E]s is[A] a[B] friend of mine, Jesus is a friend of mine

Once[A] I[E] tri[B]ed[E] to run, I tried to run and hide
But Jesus came and found me and he touched me down inside
He is like a mountie; he always gets his man
[F#]And he'll zap you any way he c[B]an, ZAP!

He l[A]ov[E]es m[B]e [E]when I'm right; he loves me when I'm wrong
He loves me when I waste my time my writing silly songs
He loves me when I'm quiet and I have nothing to say
[F#]He'll love me when I'm perfect if I ever get that wa[B]y
