Tears Of A Clown

I[C]f the[F]re's a s[Bb]mile on my face

I[F]t's only the[C]re tryin' to foo[F]l the publ[Bb]ic [F]
But when it comes down to foolin' you
Now honey, that's quite a different subject
Don't let my glad expression give you the wrong impression

B[C]aby I'm sad[F] (sad,[Bb] sad, [C]sad, sad)
So much sadder than sad (sad, sad, sad, sad)
Like a clown I appear to be glad (sad, sad, sad, sad)
You're gone and I'm hurtin' so bad (sad, sad, sad, sad)

 [G]
 [E7]
N[Ab]ow there's some sad things known to man

B[Am]ut ain't too muc[Fmaj7]h sadder than

T[C]he tears of a clown
When there's noone around

THE TEARS OF A CLOWN- Smokey Robinson and the Miracles

No[D]w if there'[C]s a sm[G]ile on[C] my face

It[D]'s only there tryi[C]ng to fool [G]the public

Bu[C]t when it c[D]omes down to foo[C]ling you [G]

  [C] [D] [C] [G]
No[C]w honey that's quite a different subject

But don't let my glad expression
Give you the wrong impression
Cos really I'm sad, Oh I'm sadder than sad
Well I'm hurt and I want you so bad
Like a clown I appear to be glad ooh yeah

We[A]ll they're some sad t[F#]hings known to man

Bu[Bm]t ain't too much sa[G]dder than

Th[D]e te[C]ars [G]of a clown when t[C]here's noo[D]ne ar[C]ound [G]

Oh[C] yeah, baby [D]baby, oh[C] yea[G]h bab[C]y baby [D] [C] [G] [C]

Now if I appear to be carefree
It's only to camouflage my sadness
And honey to shield my pride I try
To cover this hurt with a show of gladness
But don't let my show convince you
That I've been happy since you
Cos I need to go, oh I need you so
Look I'm hurt and I want you to know
For others I put on a show ...CHORUS
