Elijah

[[G2]/ / / / ][[Em7] / / / / ][[C2]/ / / / ][[Dsus] / / [D]/ / ]
[G] The Jordan is waiting[Em7] for me to cross through
[C2] My heart is agin'[Am7] I can [Dsus]tell [D]
[G] So Lord I'm asking for one last[Em7] favor from You
Here's my [C2] heart take[Am7] it where You will [Dsus]

[G] This life has shown me how we're [Em7]mend-ed and how we're torn
[C2] How it's okay to be lone-[Am7] ly as long as you're[Dsus] free [D]
[G]Sometimes my ground was stony
And sometimes[Em7] covered up with thorns
And only [C2] You could make it [Am7] what it had to be
[Dsus] And now that it's done
[Am7] If they dressed me like a[Gmaj7] pau-[B] per
Or if they di[C]ned me like a [Gmaj7]prince[B]
[Am7] If they lay me with my [Gmaj7] fa- [B] thers
Or if my [C2] ash- es scatter on the [D7sus]wind I don't care

B[G]ut when I leave I want to [Am7]go out like[G/B] E-li[C]-jah [D]
[Em7]With a whirlwind to fuel my ch[D/F#]ar-i-ot [G]of fir[C2]e [D/C]
And when I [G/B]look back on the stars [C]
It'll be like a [G/D]can- dlelight in [B/D#]Cen- tral Park [Em] [Asus] [A]
And [C]it won't break my hea[Dsus]rt to say goodbye [G]
[[Em7] / / / / ][[C2]/ / / / ][[D]/ / / / ]

There's people been friendly, but they'd never be your friends
Sometimes this has bent me to the ground
Now that this is all ending
I want to hear some music once again
'Cause it's the finest thing that I have ever found

But the Jordan is waiting
Though I ain't never seen the other side
Still they say you can't take in the things you have here
So on the road to salvation
I stick out my thumb and He gives me a ride
And His music is already falling on my ears

There's people been talking
They say they're worried about my soul
Well, I'm here to tell you I'll keep rocking
'Til I'm sure it's my time to roll
And when I do

Repeat Chorus:
But when I leave I want to go out like Elijah
With a whirlwind to fuel my chariot of fire
And when I look back on the stars
It'll be like a candlelight in Central Park
And it won't break my heart to say goodbye

Repeat Chorus:
'Cause when I leave I want to go out like Elijah
With a whirlwind to fuel my chariot of fire
And when I look back on the stars
It'll be like a candlelight in Central Park
And [C]it won't break my heart[D7sus]
To say [G2] goodbye
