Ragged As The Road

[D]

[D]This road I'm on it's black top and gravel
It's a fade[F#]d b[D]lue[G] line, this road [D]I travel
And it's a we[G]ll worn[D] path it's [Bm]a cold bar [G]ditchss
It's a br[D]ake man sle[C]epin on a d[G]ead man's sw[A]itch-i

And I'm ro[D]llin, fa[G]ster than a l[A]ocom[D]otive
To[G]ugher than the e[A]dge of the r[D]ockies
H[Bm]otter than a smoking g[G]un, ra[A]gged as the road I'm o[D]n

This road I'm on it's been cracked by the cold
It's been scorched by the sun searched by the soul
And it's a working back breakin' it's a pick axe swinging
It's steel wheels turning on steel rails singing

[Bm] [G] [D] [A]

This road lies ahead, like life on a brush
It's a virgin canvas, free from human touch
And it's ours for the taking, or the leaving behind
It's a ghost of the past with the future to find
