Jacob Dumb

[Em] [C] [D] [Em] 4x

She [Em]gave me head and [C]heroin as [D]sure as the sun would [Em]set
She [Em]let me cum ont[C]o her chin yet there’s [D]one thing that I still [Em]regret
She [Em]gave me my son name of [C]Jacob Dumb [D]this child has been my [Em]hell
[Em]Nary a one [C]with a like tongue to [D]wean him from [Em]himself

[Bm] [G] 4x

[C]Jacob [Em]Dumb
you wean from yourself

[Bm] [G] [Bm] [G] [Bm] [G] [E] 2x

And [Em]Jacob Dumb he'd [C]sit with us on [D]our pineboard each [Em]night
[Em]Mumbled out the [C]songs I sang; he [D]sat between the [Em]legs of my wife
[Em]Paws on her thigh, tried to [C]pass his age, he [D]sang though his throat was [Em]young
A [Em]fly laid an egg, my wife [C]shifted her weight, [D]Jacob, don't live your name [Em]Dumb

[Bm] [G] 4x

[C]Jacob [Em]Dumb
Well don't live your name

[Bm] [G] [Bm] [G] [Bm] [G] [Em] 2x

Our [D]porch became a [C]teeter [Em]totter
When [D]Jacob came down he fell [C]far from his [Em]father
My [D]wife shift of weight forced Jacob [C]so much [Em]closer

And [C]Jacob [Em]Dumb
Well you are my [Bm]shame [G]
You are my [Bm]shame [G]
You are my [Bm]shame [G]
You are my [Em]shame
You are my [Bm]shame [G]
You are my [Bm]shame [G]
We lost aga[Bm]in [G]
We lost [Em]again

She [Em]gives him head and [C]heroin and [D]now he's truly [Em]dumb
[Em]Now not even [C]Nestor could bring [D]peace between [Em]myself and my son
[Em]Jacob fell far from his [C]father's heart though the [D]distance was not too [Em]long
[Em]Dumb, take my wife, my [C]black tar vice, [D]but don't take from me...

Child, don't take my [Bm]son[G]gs[Bm] [G] [Em]
Don't take my [Bm]son[G]gs[Bm] [G] [Em]

[Bm] [G] [Bm] [G] [Bm] [G] [Em] 2x
