[D]Some of my very best [G]friends are furry

Some [Em]bark a little bit and [A]some are purry

And I'd [A6]love to [Bm]share a sarsaparilla

With a [Em7]good-natured goat or a [A7]friendly gorilla.

And I [D]find there's always quite a [G]bit one can learn

From an [Em]elephant - in other words,[A] pachyderm

And you'd [A6]have to [Bm]look long and look hard

To find a [Em7]pal as saintly as your [A7]nearest Saint Bernard

[Dmaj7]When you embark on your [G]next nature study

Re[Dmaj7]member that you might meet a [E]budding best buddy

With a [Em7]tail, she won't fail

To be a [A7]friend to the end

If you [G]need a [A]hand when you're [D]down or [Em]blue

Then a [G]helpful [A]paw may just [D]comfort you.

Feathers, [G]fins, or [A]fur, when you're [D]feeling [Em]sad

Nothing [G]cheers you [A]up like a [D]critter comrade!

[D]If you are bored, then [G]why not make a bee line

For the [Em]nearest seal or your [A]local sea lion?

Or, why not [A6]ask a [Bm]tiger out to tea?

I say, "Ex[Em7]cuse me Miss Tiger, is that [A7]one lump or three?"

And I [Dmaj7]find that beavers do make [G]mighty good chums

They can [Dmaj7]chew your ear off, but they [E]get a lot done

With their [Em7]tails, they won't fail

To be [A7]friends to the end
