Second Friend

[D]You should know by now
baby the [Em7]past is in the sand
buried with a[A]ll the fights and sleepless nights
I k[Gm]now you understand[D]

Just because we're here
doesn't mean there wont be change
it may slow our climb from time to time
and leave us in the rain

I'll k[G]eep the rain off your h[D]ead
you f[G]eel the warmth in my h[D]and
the st[G]orm is past and l[Em7]eft our glass
[A]flowin' over the e[D]dge

any moment now our river will be changing course
we may not have time to drift and glide
just like those days before

could this day sit still
free of time and growing pains
I would watch your hair dance in the air
and beg to hear you sing

for what we have is real
and time is going to heal
this rain wont last just like the past
buried in the sand

and I [F#]hope you k[G]now I hope you k[A]now
I'll never ever let you g[G]o al[D]one
or be the [F#]one to l[G]et you run
[A]from distraction
[A]or drop your ambition until you've reached the s[G]un [D]

you should know by now
baby the past is in the sand
buried with all the fights
and sleepless nights
I know you understand
