Black Silk Ribbon

[Em], [Am], [G], [B] major
It was cold
she was colder
she wore a black silk ribbon in a bow around her throat
for her lover
she walked the halls her young heart singing

[Em]Ooo![G] [D]

[Em], [Am], [G], [B] major
He left a note
on the pillow
in the lamplight
the words were dancing
something smooth
on her fingers
the black silk ribbon like a cold comfort

[Em]Ooo![G] [D]

[Em], [Am], [G], [B] major
I'm leaving he said and I'll find my own way home

[Em], [Am], [G], [B] major
And the hounds in the courtyard
they were waiting for their master
when a cry
from the window
"don't you love me ?"

[Em]Ooo![G] [D]

[Em], [Am], [G], [B] major
But for him it was simple
it wasn't till he noticed there was something in her eyes
in the mirror
the ribbon came as a surprise, he cried

[Em]Ooo![G] [D]

[Em], [Am], [G], [B] major
leave me she said and you'll find your own way home

[C]But[G] wa[D]sn't there something better waiting
Didn't you feel it too?

[Em], [G], [B] major, [D]
See the black silk ribbon fly, fly
see the black silk ribbon fly, fly
and the hounds
they were waiting

[C]But[G] wa[D]sn't there something better waiting
didn0t you feel it too?
Wasn't there something between me and you?
between me and you?
