In The Meantime

[G]I'm savin' all my nickels
And [F]half of every [C]dime
I'm [G]washin' all the blankets
God [F]knows that I'm [C]tryin'
I fixed the g[G]ate

We [F]will find [C]each other so they [G]say
In the [F]meantime
I'm [G]lonesome while I [C]wait

I'm [G]lyin' to my family
Of [F]who I'm t[C]hinkin' about
I h[G]ad another woman
So[F]mehow she f[C]ound out
She [G]always knew

We'll be [F]honest with [C]each other, me and [G]you
In the [F]meantime
I'll [G]break a heart or [C]two

Now I'm [G]sellin' saws and hammers
For [F]half of what [C]they're worth
I'm [G]dreamin' for a living
I [F]got no time for [C]work
It's [G]gettin' hard

[F]One day we [C]will never be [G]apart
In the [F]meantime
I'm [G]wonderin' where you [C]are

Now I'm [G]burnin' sheets of plywood
I [F]pried up off the [C]floor
The [G]house is out of lumber
At [F]least for now I'm [C]warm
For [G]now I'm warm

We'll be[F] warm b[C]eneath the C[G]arolina moon
In the [F]meantime
I should [G]find another [C]room

[G] [F] [G] [F] [C] [G] [F] [G] [F] [G] [C]

I'm d[G]rinkin' from the faucet
I'm [F]lucky when I [C]sleep
I'm [G]sleepin' in the closet
I'm [F]scared of the [C]police
What sh[G]ould I do?

One [F]day you will [C]be my reason [G]too
In the [F]meantime
I'll j[G]ust be passing [C]through
