Afghanistan

[G]Well I turned eighteen and I di[C]dn't know
[D]just what to do and wh[G]ere to go
[G]I didn't play no sports, I wasn[C]'t in no band
[D]Didn't want to eat fro[G]m some boss's hand

[G]But I always liked what the gen[C]eral said
[D]and I ain't afraid to [G]end up dead
[G]daddy always said to be a man [C]
[D]so I'm shippin off to [G]Afghanistan

Well my girlfriend says that I must be crazy
cause up to now I've just been lazy
sitting around no purpose at all
waiting for the big old axe to fall

But I always liked what the general said
and I ain't afraid to end up dead
daddy always said to be a man
so I'm shippin off to Afghanistan

Well I saw a recruiter just the other day
said if you're looking for adventure come this way
gave me a pen, he said sign right here
I said what am I gonna do with mama's tears

But I always liked what the general said
and I ain't afraid to end up dead
daddy always said to be a man
so I'm shippin off to Afghanistan

And it was our first night under the desert heat
we were sitting there pumping jack mark's beats
when all of a sudden the thunder hit the van
men saying take cover if you can

But I always liked what the general said
and I ain't afraid to end up dead
daddy always said to be a man
so I'm shippin off to Afghanistan
(repeat)
