There are few  who would  deny at what I  do I am the  best
For my talents  are renowned far and wide.
When it comes  to surprises  in the moonlit night
I accel  without ever even trying.
With the slightest  little effort  of my ghostlike charm
I've seen  grown men  give out a  shriek
With a wave  of my hand  and a well  placed moan
I have swept  the very  bravest off their feet.
Yet year  after year,  it's the same  old cheer
And I grow  so weary  of the sound  of screams
And I, Jack,  the Pump-kin King
Have grown  so tired  of the same  old  thing
Oh, somewhere deep inside  of these bones
 An emptiness began  to grow
There's something out  there, far  from my home
A longing that  I've never known
I'm a master  of fright,  and a demon  of light
And I'll scare  you right out of your pants
To a guy  in Kentucky,  I'm Mister Unlucky
And I'm known  throughout England and France
And since  I am dead,  I can take  off my head
 To recite Shakespearean  quotations
No animal  nor man  can scream  like I can
With the fury  of my recitations
But  who here  would ever  understand
That the Pumpkin King  with the skeleton grin
Would tire of  his crown,  if they only understood
He'd give  it all up  if he only could
Oh, there's  an empty place  in my bones
That calls  out for  something unknown
The fame  and praise  come year  after year
Does nothing for  these empty tears

There are [Bm]few who would[Bmmaj7] deny at what I[Bm7] do I am the[A] best
For my [G]talents are [F#]renowned [G]far [A]and [Bm]wide.
When it [Bm]comes to su[Bmmaj7]rprises in the [Bm6]moonlit [A]night
I [G]accel without [F#]ever [G]even [Bm]trying.
With the [Bm]slightest little [Bmmaj7]effort of my [Bm7]ghostlike [A]charm
I've [G]seen grown [F#]men give [G]out [Am]a s[Bm]hriek
With a [Bm]wave of my [Bmmaj7]hand and a [Bm7]well placed [A]moan
I have [G]swept the [F#]very bravest [G]off [Am]their [Bm]feet.
Yet [G]year after [F#]year, it's the [G]same old [F#]cheer
And I [G]grow so [F#]weary of the [Em]sound of [A7]screams
And [Bm]I, [Bmmaj7]Jack, the [A]Pump-[G]kin [F#]King
Have [G]grown so [F#]tired of the [G]same old[F#] thing
Oh, [Bm]somewhere [Bmmaj7]deep [Bm7]inside of these [A]bones
An [G]empt[F#]iness [Em]began to [F#]grow
There's [Bm]something [Bmmaj7]out there, [Bm7]far from my [A]home
A [G]longing [F#]that I've [F#]never [Bm2]known
I'm a [Bm]master of [Bmmaj7]fright, and a [Bm7]demon of [A]light
And I'll [G]scare you right [F#]out [G]of [Am]your [Bm]pants
To a [Bm]guy in [Bmmaj7]Kentucky, I'm [Bm7]Mister [A]Unlucky
And I'm [G]known throughout [F#]England [G]and [Bm]France
And [Bm]since I am [Bmmaj7]dead, I can [Bm7]take off my [A]head
To [G]recite [F#]Shakes[G]peare[Am]an qu[Bm]otations
No [Bm]animal nor [Bmmaj7]man can [Bm7]scream like I [A]can
With the [G]fury of my [F#]rec[G]ita[Bm]tions

[G]But who [F#]here would [G]ever under[F#]stand
That the [G]Pumpkin [F#]King with the [Em]skeleton [A7]grin
Would [Bm]tire [Bmmaj7]of his [A]crown, if they [A]only [G]under[F#]stood
He'd [G]give it all [F#]up if he [G]only [F#]could
Oh, [Bm]there's an [Bmmaj7]empty [Bm7]place in my [A]bones
That [G]calls out [F#]for some[Em]thing [A]unknown
The [Bm]fame and [Bmmaj7]praise come [Bm7]year after [A]year
Does [G]nothing [F#]for these [F#7]empty [Bm2]tears
