Forget Me

( [Ab] [Eb] [C#] [Ab] )
( [Ab] [Fm] [C#] [Ab] )

[Ab]If I convinced you to [Eb]finally come with me
I'd [C#]never believe that you'd [Ab]stay
'cause your [Ab]mother's always guilt[Fm]ing you
Or your [C#]dad stands in your [Ab]way
So you [Ab]stay for your job or the two head[Eb]ed slob
As his [C#]little head used you for [Ab]play
Though his [Ab]big head can't reme[Fm]mber not to call you [C#]his other girlfriend's
[Ab]name

You say f[Fm]orget me
For[Eb]get me
For[C#]get me
For[Ab]get me
As [Fm]soon as I finally [Eb]try
You won't [C#]let me
You won't [Ab]let me

( [Fm] [Eb] [C#] [Ab] ) x2

After much begging and pleading
You finally agree to meet me to talk
If you promise not to bring up what's his name
I'll promise not to show up drunk
What a surprise I get stuck in your eyes
And start twisting your arm to come home
I'm tired of being the clown in the crowd
Get 'em laughing but go home alone

You say forget me
Forget me
Forget me
Forget me
As soon as I finally try
You won't let me
You won't let me

Six months past the time you said I'd passed my prime
Who thought I'd find somebody new
A sweetheart who always agrees with me
Who I always compare to you
She wants too much time
I can barely unwind
I don't know what the hell I should do
I'll probably just feed her a line
And then string her along
That's what I learned from you

You say forget me
Forget me
Forget me
Forget me
As soon as I finally try
You won't let me
You won't let me

You say forget me
Forget me
Forget me
Forget me
As soon as I finally try
You won't let me
You won't let me
