Kindred Spirits

The candlelight is [D]fading
As I gently kneel [G]and say
An Ave for [A]my mother
As her spirit [D]slips away

A way to join my father
And to share e[G]ternity
We call them [A]kindred spirits
Now they will [D]forever be

So now they're re[D]united
Smiling down from [G]up above
As fondly we [A]remember
The old house they [D]filled with love

How even through the hard times
They were close as [G]close could be
Just like the [A]kindred spirits
They will for[D]ever be

Their love was as [E]deep as the ocean
Flying higher than [A]eagles would dare
As strong as the mountains [B]in Donegal
As soft as a morning in [E]Clare

I can see her in [D]the kitchen
I can smell the [G]baking bread
I can hear my father [A]singing
As he tucked us [D]in to bed

They shared the load together
They were proud as [G]proud could be
And now those [A]kindred spirits
Will share e[D]ternity

([E], [A], [B], [E])

They shared the [D]load together
They were proud as [G]proud could be
They were always [A]kindred spirits
And they will [D]forever be
For now those [A]kindred spirits
[N.C.]Will share eterni[D]ty
