Covered In Coal

[Cadd9]He packs his bucket on Monday morning
another long week down at the mi[G]nes

and he ain't ready to go back to wo[D]rk

but he's on th[G]e companies time
he don't do it for the greed or [Cadd9]pleasure
and he ain't chasing no pot of[G] gold
he's in a whole in west V[D]irginia
because he's got to little baby's at h[G]ome

        chorus
It's amazing wha[Cadd9]t we'll do
just to p[G]rovide a home for our c[D]hildren
and try to g[G]ive them a better life
He ain't never been [Cadd9]perfect but he's perfect in there [Em]eyes
he's covered in coal in West Vir[D]ginia
With his baby's on his m[G]ind

     (Solo)

Come's home tired every [Cadd9]day
Covered in sweat,tattoos,and [G]scars
But somehow he finds the e[D]nergy to romp and play out in the ya[G]rd
dodge ball,leap frog,and [Cadd9]tag your it
loves the smiles the laughs and those[G] giggle fits
come tonight he'll tuck them [D]into bed
get up in the morning and start it all [G]over again

        Repeat chorus
Like his daddy and his daddy be[Cadd9]fore him
He's doing all he has ever kno[G]wn
came back from the ser[D]vice
got a hat and a light and went st[G]raight under ground
each shift he works he ain't but s[Cadd9]ix inches from hell
He seen a lot of good men give it a[G]ll

and he draws his pay on Friday mo[D]rning
he might stumble but he ain't gonna f[G]all

 It's amazing what[Cadd9] we'll do
just to pr[G]ovide a home for our chil[D]dren
and try to give [G]them a better life
He ain't never been perfect but he'[Cadd9]s perfect in there [Em]eyes
he's covered in coal in West Vir[D]ginia
With his baby's on his m[G]ind

he's covered in coal in West [D]Virginia
and the sun is on the[G] rise
